How does CHEFS kitchen work?

No menus, no waiters, no fancy décor, just three meal choices. Sound horrific? Depends on how much you like good food and dislike the fuss that normally surrounds it.

Here, the chefs serve you lunch or dinner, Monday to Friday and literally, they do serve them. They bring you your food, doing away with the need for waiters. You’ll have checked the changing daily meal choices online before arriving, so you simply tell them what you want when you walk in and the chefs get cooking immediately. Your meal – a main and sides – is plated and curated in the kitchen and brought to you on the signature Chefs’ tray. Still or sparkling water is on the house, there’s a daily juice, beer, and the wine list changes monthly. There’s also a dessert that changes daily.

 

What are the operating hours?

The kitchen is open Monday to Friday between 12:00 and 15:00 for lunch (last order 14:30) and 18:00 to 20:30 for dinner (last order 20:00). Doors close at 21:30.

How can I make a booking?

Book online or phone between 09:00 and 12:00 or 15:00 and 18:00.

What is the price range?

There are three menu options a day ranging between R165 and R265.

Can I walk-in?

Yes, but we recommend you book to guarantee your table.

Do you take group bookings?

Yes, for up to 6 people.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Please give 24 hours notice.

Where can I find the menu?

It’s online. If you click on the photo of each item, more details, including pricing as well as allergens will appear. You can also sign up to receive a daily email about the day’s menu.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

We do not permit guests to bring their own drinks. We provide a carefully chosen selection of wines and beer as well as a freshly made juice of the day. Wine is available by the glass as well as by the bottle. We also serve coffee. We do not serve sparkling wine or spirits.

What form of payment is accepted?

Credit card, cash, SnapScan and Zapper.

Is CHEFS child-friendly?

We do not offer a kid’s menu, but most kids enjoy our food.

What if I’m running late?

Please call us to let us know and please order within half an hour of your booking time, regardless of your booking time.

Can I request a specific table?

Sure, but we can’t guarantee you get to sit exactly where you’d like to.

Can I bring my pets?

No. As we have an open kitchen, CHEFS is not a pet-friendly environment.

Can I change elements of the dish in line with my preferences?

We don’t allow substitutions on dishes. Please check the menu online before you visit.

What is CHEFS?

CHEFS is a solution to your daily eating needs. A kitchen in your area staffed with professional chefs that prepare your meals for you. All our food is clean, fresh, free-range, grass-fed, seasonal and sustainable.

What is CHEFS Delivery?

It’s a new food collection or delivery service that allows you to either collect your CHEFS.

When is it available?

Monday to Sunday from 12:00 to 15:00 and 17:30 to 20:30.

Where is CHEFS located?

  • Available at CHEFS, 81 St. John’s Street, Gardens and we deliver to the Cape Town City Bowl and CBD.

How do I start ordering CHEFS menu?

        •     - Pay online or on collection
        •     - Track your order

How much does CHEFS delivery menu?

Prices range from salads costing R45 to R172 for mains. There is a delivery fee of R25 per order in addition to the food price.

What if I have food allergies or want to change the order?

We don’t allow modifications to the menu. Please check the menu allergens before ordering. These are displayed on the online menu.

What if I have a problem with my order?

Please call us and we’ll help you. Call 021 461 0368 or contact us on the CHEFS chatbot.

Will the driver bring the meal to my door or inside my office?

Please be specific about your delivery information. If you live in a flat or complex or are in an office, please include your office or flat number.

Do I need to give a tip to the driver who delivers my food to me?

That’s up to you. It’s not mandatory.

How long will it take for my meal to arrive?

You will be sent a tracking link via email or SMS to track your order in real time. The order will be ready within the 15-minute time frame of the requested scheduled time.

Where do I collect my meals if I’ve ordered online?

Pick-up is at the CHEFS counter at 81 St. John’s Street, Gardens. Simply present your order code, which will be generated online.

Can I order drinks from CHEFS?

You can order the CHEFS freshly made cordial. Alcohol is not available for delivery or collection.

Where can I find the menu?

It’s online. All meal items are visually displayed, explained and priced under menus: mains, salads, desserts, sides and sauces.

What form of payment is accepted?

Card payment via paygate

CHEFS make the food from ethically sourced ingredients in an open kitchen, we, therefore, can not guarantee that there won’t be trace amounts nuts in your meal. Please check allergens in the meal before ordering
